The goal of this fabulous fireplace makeover was to reconfigure an original brick clad fireplace positioned as a divider between the home’s family room and formal living room. This remodel included the removal of the dated French doors connecting the two spaces.
After removing the two sets of French doors and door frames, the area was reframed to create an open-plan configuration between the interconnected spaces. The two support columns adjacent to the fireplace enclosure were clad in MDF. Subsequently, the fireplace enclosure was finished in horizontal MDF panels creating a central feature. A custom plywood mantel was built and installed above the living room’s new gas insert. Porcelain tile was set to finish the fireplace makeover with an updated fireplace face and hearth.
