Project Highlights
A fabulous modern kitchen renovation showcasing high-gloss white cabinetry with soft-closing hardware in a number of practical configurations for ample storage alternatives. Faux Carrara 12” x 24” porcelain tile set with tight grout joints to mimic marble slab graces the backsplash. Low-voltage flushmount linear LED undercabinet lighting and matte black detailing in the door/drawer pulls enhance the transformation.
The newly installed counter is 3cm white Calcutta marble inspired quartz with the peninsula finished with a waterfall end cut from the same slab to continue the quartz vein! These selections pay tribute to the opulence and timeless beauty of marble without the fuss and maintenance.
Special features in this renovation include floating 12mm wide plank Swiss-made AC5 laminate over SolidSound membrane to reduce noise transfer, new appliances and an extra spacious undermount stainless sink, perfect for washing even the largest of dishes.
During construction a number of existing issues from previous DIY attempts were resolved. Namely, the floor that was finished in thick slate with raised quartz pieces creating a tripping hazard was replaced with laminate. A standard upper cabinet used as an end cabinet along a 45 degree angled wall creating a dangerous protruding obstruction was corrected in the new kitchen design. Previously, when the microwave/hood combination was installed above the existing range it was secured using 3” long screws. These were placed into a wall housing a pocket door and consequently into the door rendering it useless. During the installation of the new appliance package this was remedied.
This modern kitchen renovation is truly a delight from corner to corner!
