Dated wood railings, including the hand rails and balusters, are replaced with a new set combining wood and metal. In a modern style with a clean and uncluttered aesthetic, the custom railing effortlessly graces the newly made over entrance of this home renovation.
Oak plywood clad corner posts are installed to support oak hand rails. The metal rail is constructed from 1½” x ¼” flat steel running horizontally along the entire length of the upper floor and down the stairs. The horizontal bars are connected together with ½” round bar.
The railing’s metal component is painted in a silver grey metallic Ralph Lauren paint, while the posts and handrail are finished in a semi-gloss Varathane stain and clear finish. A complementary colour to the home’s hardwood flooring was selected. The stair stringers are clad in 5/8” thick MDF and painted in a flat finish. The stair treads and risers are finished in matching hardwood to the home’s flooring.
