His dad gave him all of the tools he needed to succeed. And when it came time for choosing a career, it really was a case of following in his father’s footsteps for George of RenovateMe! Design and Construction. “Building is in our DNA, starting with my dad Mike ‘borrowing’ tools every day after school from granddad’s engineering firm to attempt his very own DIY projects at home – it was only natural that I followed suit,” George says.
Years later, the two teamed up to create RenovateMe! Design and Construction, a North Shore-based design/build company that provides clients with a fully integrated home renovation service, from concept to completion. Having those responsible for the estimating, planning, design, construction, finishing and styling of your renovation in-house and able to seamlessly and consistently communicate, coordinate and follow through on each detail of your renovation is priceless. “This integrated design/build strategy is central to our team’s success and working as a family drives our ability to deliver time-sensitive, budget-friendly and fuss-free home renovation experiences of the finest order,” adds George.
Their years of hands-on construction, design and styling savvy, quality craftsmanship and acumen for on-site troubleshooting, innovation and problem-solving are reflected in every aspect of the renovation process. The father and son duo blend years of experience and know-how with youthful energy, fresh construction perspective and passion to create successful projects time after time. “We both have a genuine love of all things design and construction and a quest for knowing how things work,” says George.
Clients that work with the pair always take note of the strong working relationship built between father and son. “Mike and George are a father and son team, and what a team! I could not help but notice, and it is infectious, the harmonious relationship between the two. It carries through to their work attitude – measured, detailed, even temperament – which eases a lot of the stress one goes through when a renovation is going on,” said a recent client in West Vancouver. “They take ownership and pride in their work. It shows. Above all, I feel like my friends, albeit very skilled and knowledgeable friends, have done a really professional job for me.”
Since he started in the home renovation industry, George has never once questioned his decision to join the family business and work alongside his father. “There is something incredibly rewarding about taking seemingly simple materials and making something significant and memorable with your hands, in helping to create the spaces where families gather at the end of a long day, laugh, share, grow and make memories,” he says.
